Machine and the Synergetic Nuts-Leap Second Neutral [2005] 2nd release
Here's a nice jazz fusion release, the 2nd from them..
Japan's Machine and the Synergetic Nuts are back with a vengeance on their sophomore release Leap Second Neutral, their first for Cuneiform Records. Canterbury and fusion fans will fall head-over-heels in love with this CD, as a multitude of complex, quirky, and challenging sounds permeate each of the nine instrumental tunes, yet keep the overall vibe firmly in a happy medium between prog and jazz. It's one of those releases that prompts you to hit the replay button time and time again, with each new listen bringing new and unexpected pleasures.
While the band fluctuates back and forth between funky jazz and rock firepower on a few cuts, especially on the burner "Neutral" which sees Iwata Noriya's majestic piano do battle with the searing and distorted guitar licks of Matsue Jun, this is mostly a complex and fusiony affair. The scorching opener "M-B" is like a chapter right out of the National Health/Gilgamesh/Soft Machine book of Canterbury rock, led by Noriya's rampaging Hammond tone that reminds instantly of vintage Dave Stewart. "Stum" is filled with tons of off-kilter sax riffs from Mahi-Mahi and intricate rhythms from bassist Suzuki Hiroyuki and drummer Sudoh Toshiaki.
On "Oz", the band goes for some sounds that rival classic Return to Forever, complete with electric piano, funky guitar riffs, yet with wild, complex sax lines. They break out the heavy stomp on "Solid Box", a pounding number that recalls Deep Purple as much as it does Happy Family or National Health, as the band combines hard rock, jazz, and wild fusion for a intense affair. You want to hear heavy organ-check this one out!
There's insanely complex prog-fusion on the burning "Texas", a real organ/sax workout, and just when you are feeling out of breath the band slows down a bit for the Soft Machine influenced "Normal", complete with awesome organ passages and melodic sax, not to mention creepy Mellotron.
This is wonderful stuff, and with Leap Second Neutral I predict that Machine and the Synergetic Nuts will leap to the forefront of not only the Japanese prog-fusion pack, but the international prog-fusion-Canterbury scene as well. Highly recommended!

SGT-Capital Of Gravity [2009]
If you like KBB, you should like these guy's [and gal]. I will post a song as usual for new artists::
Formed in 1999 in Tokyo, Japan, the four-piece sgt. utilizes a broad range of genres to create their distinctive sound, including that of post-rock, jazz, ambient and improvisation. Using a guitar, violin, drums and bass guitar, the band creates uplifting instrumental compositions comparable to such acts as “Toe” or “Anoice”.
Having played for almost a continuous decade, Sgt. is one of the veteran post-rock bands in Japan. Sgt. can offer what only an experienced band can deliver, a tight sound. The composition of their music is a version of post-rock that is soaked with classical, noise, jazz and emo motifs. This can be attributed to the pr the essence of a female violinist who clutches onto the band’s sound and takes it in new directions.
?sgt.?is very active on the live circuit and even run their own semi-regular event called “seimei” which brings together the best in the Japanese indies scene. Bands like 54-71, good music, OVUM, win a sheep free, The World Heritage, and other bands have graced the event with their presence. In 2005, they released their first mini-album, “perception of casualty” with the help of the engineering skills of one of Toe’s members. Sgt. then released a split with good music the following year. Their newest release, Stylus Fantasticus was released in 2008 internationally by HearJapan.
One of the often overlooked aspects of the band is their omnipresence in the Japanese music scene. They have done collaborations with ROVO, Boredoms, ONJI, etc. They are also the backing band for ILL, which is a new band from a supercar member. They are also official members of the electro dub band MAS.
While they have vast playing time with some of Japan’s greatest underground musicians, Sgt. has built up a repertoire of playing with western bands when they come to Japan. They have opened for the German progressive band, CAN, Damo Suzuki, and the Art of Fighting from Australia. The vast distances they cover in the music scene surely has added deep nuances to their musical productions and is definitely a band to keep an eye on.
1 Kalliope 2:28
2 Apollo Program 7:01
3 Tears of na-ga 8:25
4 Ant’s Planet 4:55
5 Epsilon 10:20

Osaka Monaurail-Rumble'N & Struggle (2001)
Osaka Monaurail was founded in 1992, when Ryo Nakata, frontman of the group, was a student. Der Name wurde von dem Stück It's the JBs Monaurail (mit bewusst verfälschter Schreibweise) von James Browns Band The JB's übernommen. The name of the piece was It's the JBs Monaurail (with deliberately falsified spelling) by James Brown's band The JB's taken over. Die JB's waren von Beginn an einer der größten Einflüsse und eine wichtige Inspirationsquelle für Osaka Monaurail.
