This is from Gonsiopea."I am a Japanese fusion fan. As some of you might already know, Takeshi Hirai left Trix, and
a promising young guitarist (Yuya Komoguchi) has become a new member.
The official reason for Takeshi's withdrawal from the band is difference in music orientation and
preference, but some fans "guess" it's due to the unequal distribution of money. "
Yuga played in the fusion band--TRI-OFFENSIVE, also posted here..

[EXCLUSIVES] RYO KAWASAKI--REVAL[2001] & COSMIC RHYTHM [1999]
Here are the final 2 from "Tim", these have been appreciated very much.
Cosmic Rhythm finds fusion guitarist Ryo Kawasaki collaborating with newcomer Clare Foster, who sings on most of the tracks; the lyrics have a touch of new age mysticism and gentleness, mostly philosophical platitudes concerning topics like ... Full Description"Understanding" and "Kindness." Kawasaki's guitar playing is smooth, tasteful and polished, although one wishes that the musical backgrounds didn't sound quite so smooth and polished themselves -- they verge on mechanical sterility. The record achieves most of what it sets out to do, even if the remake of Soul II Soul's "Keep on Movin'" utterly fails to duplicate the slinky groove of the original. ~ Steve Huey

Reval:::
Estonia, one of the three Baltic maritime nations, has a history of being receptive to jazz. Oscar Peterson gave a memorable concert in Tallinn in 1974 while the country was under Soviet domination. Jazz and other musicians are taking advantage of the recording facilities offered in the country, Ryo Kawasaki among them. He collaborates with three of Estonia's leading jazz artists, Toivo Unt on bass, Aivar Vassiljev on drums, and Kristi Keel on English horn on Reval, the ancient name for Estonia. This is an especially intimate session because it's live in the studio with all musicians present and playing. Kawasaki's guitar is like a chameleon, changing tone and texture, from electric to acoustic, to fit the music. On "Giant Steps," he is especially chordal, capturing the impressions created by John Coltrane's masterpiece. The guitar is pitched higher for the Estonian folk song "Long Ingliska," jazzed up by Kawasaki's arrangement, and is one of the liveliest pieces on the album. The soulful English horn of Kristi Keel gets a lot of time on this cut. A clean-stringed attack comes into play on a fast-paced Kawasaki piece, "Maximillian," percussively adorned by Vassiljev's drums and some high-speed bass walking by Unt. The choice of this tune to kick off the album was fortuitous in that it sets the table for the good stuff to come. And one of those follows immediately in a romantic rendition of "You Don't Know What Love Is," recalling Mundell Lowe's classic interpretation from the 1950s. An especially melodic version of Kenny Dorham's "Blue Bossa" serves as a perfect coda to an album of a discriminating session by a guitarist with an artistic mixture of technique and soul for the music. Recommended. ~ Dave Nathan
Acoustic jazz guitarist Ryo Kawasaki begins the new century with a fresh direction. After traveling to Estonia, he has formed a flawless trio consisting of bassist Toivo Unt, drummer Aivar Vassilijev & English horn player Kristi Keel. Together they creat

[EXCLUSIVE] RYO KAWASAKI--SWEET LIFE [1996]
Yes, another fine on couresty of "Tim", appreciated.
One of the dangers anytime an artist decides to forgo the organic approach and back his primary instrument with electronic effects is relying too much on the machinery. Fortunately, Ryo Kawasaki, as strong a producer as he is a lyrical electric guitar master, makes sure his silky urban rhythms on Sweet Life are simply an enhancement, rather than a burden, to his fluid lines. Whether the track is straight-out funk, smooth late night seduction or a loping ride like the title cut, his hypnotic synth lines simply set the mood. Kawasaki's plucky, winding way with a melody is textured over that, working its way towards varying degrees of emotional resonance. While the fully plugged in mode carries the majority of the collection, Kawasaki earns his most memorable kudos for the simple and sparse acoustic gems, a lush cover of Janet Jackson's "Again" and on "Sweet Life," which improvises an almost flamenco edge over finger snap percussion that sounds more real than machine-generated. Another edge he gives himself over the competition is an admirable aversion to outside lead instruments like acoustic piano or sax. When a performer advertises a guitar in the forefront, it's nice to see him deliver the goods without any distractions.

[SPECIAL] HIROMI UEHARA--VOICE [2011]
This is the Japanese" Limited Edition" pre-release. A big Thank You to "kei" for this, appreciated.I haven't posted her before cause it was always available,This also called--"The Trio PROJECT"
Pianist and composer Hiromi Uehara, whose passionate and incendiary keyboard work has been a shining light on the jazz landscape since her 2003 debut, believes that the voice that never speaks can sometimes be the most powerful of all.
Her newest release, a nine-song trio recording simply titled Voice, expresses a range of human emotions without the aid of a single lyric.
“When I play music, I realize that it really filters emotions,” says Hiromi. “I called this album Voice because I believe that people’s real voices are expressed in their emotions. It’s not something that you really say. It’s more something that you have in your heart. Maybe it’s something you haven’t said yet. Maybe you’re never going to say it. But it’s your true voice. Instrumental music is very similar. We don’t have any words or any lyrics to go with it. It’s the true voice that we don’t really put into words, but we feel it when it’s real.”
Although a mesmerizing instrumentalist in her own right, Hiromi enlists the aid of two equally formidable players for this project – bassist Anthony Jackson (Paul Simon, The O’Jays, Steely Dan, Chick Corea) and drummer Simon Phillips (The Who, Judas Priest, David Gilmour, Jack Bruce). Jackson had previously played on a couple tracks from each of Hiromi’s first two albums – Another Mind in 2003 and Brain in 2004 – but they had never recorded an entire album together. “I’ve always been a huge fan of his bass playing,” she says. “I’ve always liked playing with him, and I was very happy that we finally had the chance to make an entire album together.”
She hadn’t crossed paths with Phillips prior to this project, but he came highly recommended by not only Jackson but also Stanley Clarke, the legendary jazz fusion bassist who gave her a prime spot on his two most recent projects, Jazz in the Garden in 2009 and The Stanley Clarke Band in 2010. “The more music I wrote for this album, the more clearly I heard the sound of Simon on drums,” says Hiromi. “When I told Anthony and Stanley that I was thinking of Simon to play drums for this project, they both encouraged me to ask him, so I did, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. From the first note of the first rehearsal, I was very excited about where we could go with this recording.”
Further in, “Temptation” is relatively understated in comparison to the preceding tracks, but with a solid piano melody that keeps beckoning. The song invites the listener to ponder what happens when we finally give in to that thing we find so seductive and alluring. Hiromi asks: “Is the result of that temptation sweet or bitter?”
“Haze,” the one solo piano track in the entire recording, is just what the title suggests – a shimmering piece whose melodic edges are sometimes sharp and other times undefined. The song suggests “unclear vision, focused then blurry again,” says Hiromi. “There was so much excitement among all three of us when we were recording this record. Even when I was tracking this solo piece, Anthony and Simon were giving me a lot of encouragement about the different takes, what was working and what wasn’t.”
Taken as a whole, the individual tracks on Voice do tell a story, says Hiromi, but she’s quick to note that the story is open-ended and subject to interpretations. “I’m not talking about a story in the sense of a novel,” she says. “People can just listen to it and decide how it reflects their own lives. They can just imagine whatever the music makes them imagine. That’s the beautiful thing about music without words. It’s just a matter of using your imagination, finding your own voice within the music, and traveling with it wherever it takes you.”

Be well
Just a note that we are thinking about all our friends in Japan that may have suffered due to the quake. We hope that you and yours are all right and are well. For the ones that took the direct hit, we feel especially bad for them and hope that they can recover well enough. It is never easy when a natural disaster like that hits.

Special Others--STAR [2007]
Now, the hottest jam bands of the whole body SPECIAL OTHERS 4th mini album!
A Japanese post-rock/jazz crossover band, Special Others had been around for a long time before finally making headway with their career around 2004, rising to share the scene with Pennywise and such J-rock big shots as Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Beat Crusaders, and Zazen Boys. The group was founded in 1995 by six classmates from a high school in Yokohama; the kids graduated in 1998 and two of them left, but the rest -- Ryota "Toyin" Miyahara (drums, vocals), Yuya "Segun" Mitayoshi (bass), Takeshi "Dayo" Yanagishita (guitar, vocals), and Yuma "Remi" Serizawa (keyboards, vocals) -- decided not to disband. The group became active on the indie scene in 2000 and toiled for several years, playing clubs and spreading demos, until debuting on NMNL Records with the EP Ben (2004), which topped the indie chart. The EP Uncle John followed in 2005, when Special Others also played Japan's biggest rock show -- the Fuji Rock Festival -- and in 2006 they released their third EP, Idol, and their debut full-length album, Good Morning, which came out on the major label Victor Entertainment and entered the Oricon album chart at number 29 -- no small thing for a mostly instrumental jam band. After that, Special Others settled into a stable release schedule, releasing their second album, Star, in 2007; its follow-up, Quest, in 2008; and the Top Ten-breaking PB in 2009.

[SPECIAL] IMANISSIMO--IMANISSIMO [2002] 1ST.
here is the link for the page to the track:::
http://www.goear.com/listen/8c30944/02-freak-imanissimo
after the first 1:30 it kicks in..

Here's a very good Indonesian progressive rock band. They have released 2 major releases. I will post them both. !st here is the self titled first release. Thanks to "xoxoxo" for these Well worth the listen, appreciated as always.
his Indonesian quartet led by bass player Iman Ismar skilfully mixes symphonic psych prog with heavy metal and a touch of world music and local ethnic sounds. They blend the howling psychedelia of OZRIC TENTACLES, PINK FLOYD and PORCUPINE with the metal riffs of DREAM THEATER and FATES WARNING.
They have released two albums todate, the eponymous "Imanissimo" (2002) and the ambitious "Z's Diary" (2004) which features close to 20 guest musicians and singers. Although a crisper sound would have enhanced the excellent musicianship, the album is altogether a fine piece of space prog.

Special Others--Ben [2004] 1st
IF PLAYER ISN'T WORKING USE THIS LINK TO LISTEN--
http://www.goear.com/listen/970d899/01-ben-special-others

Here is a band thatI have been listening to for the last month. I recommend it highly.
Special Others is a Japanese post-rock band that blends improvised jazz and post-rock influences to create a modern style of jazz that is popular with younger club scene fans. The members of the band met in high school and formed the group in 1995. They began performing in earnest in 2000, and their first major release, Indy-Ann, remained in the CRJ-tokyo charts for seven weeks.
Their first release on NMNL Records was the EP "Ben" which entered the Tower Records Shibuya indie chart at #1, and #2 in the national Tower Records chart. After releasing their second EP, "Uncle John", in June, 2005, the band played at the Fuji Rock Festival in July.
In June, 2006, they released "Idol", which was followed by a sell-out gig at Daikanyama UNIT in July, the release "Aims" at Tower Records in October, and the release of their long-awaited first full album, "Good Morning", on November 22. The band toured with Asian Kung-Fu Generation from late 2006, with guest appearances at five performances across Japan.

The Root Source--Firewalker

New group to me, but well worth a listen, This is from "ian", appreciated. I will post a page that you can go to to hear all the songs[in full] so you know a little about them.
he Root Source have returned, with a quality and timeless follow up to their self titled debut album released in 2007 (FSRCD019). Upon its release, the London based septet were lauded by the likes of Nicola Conte, Snowboy and Gilles Peterson and discerning dance floors around the world took a real heel bashing whenever any of these top DJs played the tracks from the album in their club sets!
Now in 2010, this brand new collection has been nurtured lovingly, earnestly, soulfully and truthfully by Hammond Organist/Pianist Andrew Fairclough. Drawing on influences from Deep jazz, Funk and Samba Fusion of 60s and early 70s origin yet wholeheartedly retaining contemporary originality. All tracks are new compositions except an unlikely yet anthemic jazz dance reworking of the Oompah Loompah Theme/Pure Imagination from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! As a child Andrew Fairclough discovered that certain melodies have the ability to completely alter the way he feels and transport him to another place instantly. And for this, one of several highlights of the album, instead of attempting to simply replicate the original Andrew wrote an arrangement beginning with Rhodes piano Ode to the Oompah Loompahs! developing into the Pure Imagination melody that floats above a flying jazz-dance template!
Another highlight is the number Soul Space. This composition emerged from the urge to write a funk track that was something beyond just a groove and incorporate a soul calling melody to take the players, and therefore the listeners and dancers much MUCH further than your average funk ticket!
Firewalker is not a whimsical 50 yard dash or an alter ego attempt at something vaguely resembling musics' past milestones. Its similarity is simply using the finest sounding vintage instruments for depth of expression purposes. This album is full of a balance between soaring melodies, soulful structures, creative improvisations, raw funk, Brazilian percussion (courtesy of Roberto Ares Rio), deep jazz and unexpected moments of reflective tenderness. Achieving a depth that many aim but fail to reach, The Root Source have exceeded their own expectations. Indeed, in the words of Hammond giant Dr Lonnie Smith when the Root Source played alongside him and Lou Donaldson: That was beautiful! ...You are rich inside ...'

Lee Ritenour--On The Line [1983]

With JVC midwifing again for the insatiable jazz fans of Japan, Ritenour aims to please -- this time with a series of live-in-the-studio tracks that were recorded with a supermarket of audiophile processes (direct to disk, direct to digital, direct to analog tape). The analog tape version is the one that Elektra/Musician put out in the U.S. later in 1983 -- and it's a rather slight piece of L.A. electric-jazz work, not worth the extra engineering effort. Perhaps they were inhibited by the direct-to-whatever conditions, but then perhaps not, for they're all battle-tested session pros (Ernie Watts, Dave and Don Grusin, Harvey Mason, Nathan East, Anthony Jackson, Greg Mathiesen, Steve Forman, Lenny Castro and Rit himself). The real power failure lies in the ordinary material, which no synthesizer growls or Rit's versatile technique can enliven for long (though "Dolphin Dreams" has some pretty moments). Ambition rears its head when "The Rit Variations" are launched by a neobaroque theme by Spanish composer Federico Mompou, but the track soon slips into the land of cliché. But I like it anyway..
1 The Rit Variations (Ritenour) 6:09
2 Starbright (Ritenour) 4:09
3 On the Line (Ritenour) 4:09
4 Tush (Lang, Mason) 4:13
